Before trekking the Inca Trail , I was a bit of an “indoor girl.†I had never even been camping at home in the states. This experience was also my first in South America, so I was in the dark about what to expect from my vacation. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised, because I had one of the most liberating, spiritual experiences of my life.
The trail was incredibly beautiful and it was certainly challenging, but I have never been more proud of myself than I was at the end of the four days when we reached Machu Picchu.
Our guide and porters made the experience comfortable. We had happy hour every night with hot chocolate and popcorn and then for dinner it was always something different and delicious. The chef knew what to feed us to make us strong for the hike and the porters were there to take care of anything we needed. I was very tired after the most challenging day and the porters brought me soup to my tent.
Apart from the breath taking views and reaching Machu Picchu, my favorite part of the trail was the history lesson. Our guide filled us in on all the most interesting aspects of Incan culture.
I will never forget my time here hiking the Incan Trail. For sure, I will look back at this as one of the most momentous experiences of my life.
I thought the trek was fantastic in every way! Our guide Marisa was very informative and extremely kind with a great sense of humor! The porters made me feel right at home, with all the lovely food they cooked. They are truly heroes! The trek exceeded my expectations and I will recommend it to my friends and family. Machu Picchu was beautiful and an experience I will never forget
