This was an overall amazing experience. The trek was well paced because the first day helped me warm up for the hiking in the days to come and the second day was by far the hardest. After that, the following days still involved a lot of walking, but the walks were much easier.

The campsites were comfortable and charming and gave us a good venue for meeting fellow hikers and socializing. Plus, the horsemen made sure that our tents were set up and that there was hot tea for us every morning. The food was amazing too! It was ready for us almost instantaneously every time we got to a campsite or a lunch spot and we never went hungry! Not to mention, this was an excellent way to experience delicious, authentic Peruvian food for less money than you would pay at a restaurant.

The hot springs in Santa Teresa were also one of my favorite parts because they provided a great way to relax after three days of hiking. However, Carlos, our guide, was by far the best part. He was consistently upbeat and was always rallying us to keep going. His sense of humor will win everyone over and he is very kind and accommodating.

I would recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for an adventurous hike with a few luxuries. You will get to experience nature in its most wild form and make life-lasting friends and memories.
