In all seriousness the daily lunch and dinners were restaurant grade. Amazing what the chef and his team were able to do on a rudimentary camp site. The equipment, tents and sleeping pads, were all top notch, and what you would expect in the United States.
The trek itself was absolutely the highlight. Although Machu Picchu was astounding, it really was a case of the journey being more important than the destination. Our guid, William Jaramillo Quispe, was encouraging and knowledgeable with a great dose of humor. He made sure the group stayed together as a familia and made sure to give us plenty of water breaks.
The Camino is truly a national treasure and we thank the people of Peru and the Incas for sharing it with us!
