A friend of mine asked me if I would be interested in hiking the Inca Trail with him, and I jumped at the chance. I have done a lot of hiking in the United States but the Inca Trail was amazing. Our guide (Paul) was very knowledgeable about the trail and the culture of the Inca civilization. He delighted the group with great stories and shared his knowledge of the area, while also sharing his recipe for some tasty "holy water".
The hiking days were spaced out just right, and every meal was well prepared and appropriate for the strenuous activity of hiking the trail. Visiting the Machu Picchu site on the fourth day was a real treat. At 67 years old I probably won't be able to hike a trail of this nature for too many more years, so I'm glad I was able to complete the trip.
