The Inca Trail was, although one of the hardest things I've ever done, also one of the best. The first day eased us into hiking and we enjoyed fabulous weather and a chance to enjoy the culinary skills of our travelling chef.
Nothing, however, could really prepare us for day two and three! Some of the most difficult trekking we've ever done but so rewarding to get to the end of the day and enjoy a nice hot meal and early to bed.
Unfortunately we had rain on the last day and it spoiled the views approaching Machu Picchu but we hung on for a few hours and the weather cleared and we managed to take some good photos. We're now looking forward to a hot shower and comfortable bed but have so many amazing memories and photographs to take with us.
