The hike to Machu Picchu was difficult, but I could not be happier that I finished the hike. We ended up doing the hike in three days instead of four due to conditions at the camp site, which made the accomplishment even more great. I thought that I would be huffing and puffing the entire way, but I ended up staying in the front of the group.
The entire hike was so beautiful, I cannot imagine having a greater view anywhere in the world. The mountains were so large and the air was thin but the entire trek was so worth it. While we went during the rainy season, we lucked out on the rain during the day and only experienced rain during the night.
The rain made the rocks in the trail a bit slippery, and I accidentally slipped a few times on the rocks. During the last day, I was looking up at the mountains, and I thought that they were moving. I felt as though the mountains were moving and that I was accidentally tripping on the air.
