Chat on WhatsAppI was very lucky to reserve this trek in the last minute. It was always a dream of mine to visit Peru and see Machu Picchu. So, when I had a break from work I decided to book a holiday in Peru because it seems to have everything a adventurer seeks: jungle, beaches, desert and mountains. The last minute booking of the hike to Machu Picchu was made very easy by Inca Trail Reservations . I was so happy to have everything booked while I was in Lima. Having arrived in Cusco a couple of days before in order to acclimatize to the altitude, I first met with the hiking group during the introduction briefing.
So, for the adventure itself. We left Cusco early in the morning of the first day. Initially, nobody really spoke to each other, probably due to the early hour and the apprehension of the adventure/challenge at hand. But, by the last day in the restaurant we could consider ourselves good friends, even after only 4 days together. This was because we all encouraged each other through the tough times of the hike and shared beautiful meals in the afternoons and evenings. But most of all, our guides brought us together from the start of the Inca Trail by bringing us all as a team through to see some of the most amazing landscape in the world.
I would like to thank my fellow trail hikers and our wonderful guides: Raul and Hilton. A special thanks to those who prepared some of the most delicious meals I have ever tasted. And, of course, none of this amazing trip would have been possible without the hard work and attentive efforts of the porters. I had a wonderful time that I will never forget.
