We had such an amazing hike to Machu Picchu! The first day of the hike was pretty easy- we met our group and made it to the first campsite. My friends and I were a bit worried about the altitude gain on the second day of the hike, and although the ascent was difficult it was also very rewarding once we reached the top.
The third day of the hike was the most beautiful- multiple ruins that we explored, hiking along the ridge of mountains, and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains around us. On the fourth day we reached Machu Picchu by sunrise in order to get some great photos. Poncho (our guide) gave us a tour of Machu Picchu for a couple hours and then we had some time to explore the ruins ourselves.
I felt that we were given the perfect amount of time to explore Machu Picchu. Overall, I was very impressed with the services provided for us on our tour. Both of our guides were very willing to answer questions and help out in any way that we asked.
At one point one of my friends needed help carrying his pack because he was sick, and the porters willingly carried his bag for no charge. Also, the food is great- you really don’t need to bring very many snacks for your trip as the meals are very large and filling.
