Chat on WhatsAppSuch a great Inca Trail trip, far surpassed my expectations. Four hard days of high altitude trekking is not for the faint-hearted, but incredibly rewarding. The trail leads through several ancient Inca sites enroute to Machu Picchu, each displaying unique architecture with a story to tell.
But for me the archaeology took second place to the truly breathtaking surroundings; immense glacial peaks lined with cloud forests, truncated by waterfalls and rapids flowing into the deep chasm of the valley below. It is easy to see why the Inca's legacy is so cleverly intertwined with nature and the mountains they revered.
Our guide Americo really made the trip for me; he was full of interesting historical facts and was also very knowledgeable when it came to the rich and varied fauna and wildlife along the trail. Aside from that he kept the group and porters well organised which made our trek as comfortable as possible. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience for which I will always remember Peru happily.
