This trek was so far outside of my comfort zone and but for the support of the wonderful guides (Ruben and Marujita) may not have been possible. The guides were supportive and kept me going when I thought it was too difficult to continue.
The dedication of the porters to ensure that meals and camp were prepared for us was greatly appreciated. The food was great and the trek company ensured that those of us who were vegetarian had filling and delicious meals.
If I have one quibble, it is the location of the some of the camps. Having our tent set up virtually next to the toilets was a bit gross and some of the camp sites were not on even ground, leading to a less than restful sleep.
Trekkers should make an effort to attend the information session since a lot of important information is shared during the meeting.
What should trekkers be prepared for? An adventure of a lifetime where the journey is the greater accomplishment, rather than the destination.
I would definitely recommend Inca Trail Reservations to anyone considering embarking on the 4d/3n trek.
