The journey to Salkantay had suspense, pain, redemption, and glory. From bucking horses to gasping for air, headaches to tumbles, from the lake to the top of Machu Picchu, our travels had all the scenic and dramatic elements Hollywood would look for.
If the trek itself is a film, then the crew at Salkantay.org are the actors. What separates the good Hollywood films from the great ones are the characters. Anybody can lead a trek through the Peruvian jungle and highlands, and we saw a few others who did not have the same pleasant experience as us. The team here is sublime -- always hustling, always prepared, always smiling. Even though we had never met each other before and there was a slight language barrier, by the end we had become a giggling, loving, and exhausted family.
We would definitely do this trek again, and recommend this team to any other travelers looking for a physical challenge with great people.
