Chat on WhatsAppWords cannot describe how amazing this trek is. I am an adventure seeker and I must say this was the best hiking / backpacking trip I have ever done. Each day of the trek was full of challenging adventures, beautiful scenery, and I fully enjoyed getting the opportunity to get to know my group from all over the world and my tour guide Carlos. If you get the opportunity take the tour with Carlos. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the Incas and Machu Picchu, and was very fun to hike with. I now consider him and my group, my friends.
The first day we took a challenging hike to a lake and it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The second day we hiked all day long to the highest point right by the Salkantay mountain and it was an incredible feeling of accomplishment. The third day we hiked through the jungle, climbed the passion fruit trees for a sweet treat, went and soothed our sore muscles in a natural hot springs for two hours, and then had the most fun night (that included some cervezas) dancing and playing games around the campfire. The fourth day we went ziplining between the peaks and it was wild! Now tomorrow we are hiking early to see the sunrise over Machu Picchu.
It doesn't get much better than this when it comes to a trek. I highly recommend this tour. It is worth every sol!
