When my mom suggested we go on the Inca Trail / Machu Picchu I wasn't expecting this much of an adventure. As a "typical American" this is probably the most difficult challenge I've ever faced with seven miles of rocky, muddy, slippery trails, and hundreds of stairs. Coming from Wisconsin, USA, the views were like nothing I've ever experienced. It was exhilarating !
Americo was a great guide. My mother was having trouble and he slowed down to help her along the way. She probably would've given up without his help and encouragement. My favorite part would have to be the sense of accomplishment when I went through the exit gates at Machu Picchu.
