I have heard about the Inca Trail through some friends. Honestly, I didn’t know much about the Inca culture; all I knew was that Machu Picchu is a World Wonder worthy of visiting. So, why not go there through a path built by the same people that created that incredible place..? I got together with some friends and we decided to accept the challenge.
First of all we got to meet the fourteen other people who were taking this adventure with us. I think the good mood that existed between all of us was really important for us to be able to “survive†the Inca Trail.
Then we began the Trail. And I have no words to describe all the beauty that we have seen and all the greatness of the mountains of the Andes. The landscape really took my breath away… I also have to mention the awesome job of our tour guides, Gerson and Guido, that were able to explain us in perfect English everything we needed to know about the Inca culture.
Honestly, my main concern was the sleeping and the eating. But we had an incredible team of porters and cook (Modesto), and good equipment, that made this journey much more comfortable.
Finally, we got to Machu Picchu. And the beauty of the place made me forget every muscle ache. A big advantage of doing the Inca Trail is to arrive to Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate, which allow us to see all the archeological site from above, and appreciate its greatness all at once, which is something I will never forget.
I would really like to thank Inca Trail Reservations for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing experience.
