My Inca Trail adventure was incredible. This trip took me to the most beautiful countryside on Earth. I was surrounded by soaring peaks and gentle grasslands interrupted by wonderful waterfalls that floated into rushing rivers. I collected some impressive vertical mileage along this 4 day journey that amounted to miles, not just thousands of feet.
The most awesome element of this experience, however, was being brought back several hundred years if not thousands. Along the way I saw farmers utilizing plow animals rather than mechanized machinery. I stayed the night at a working farm complete with a rooster that woke us up at dawn.
Lastly, I hiked the majority of the way on the Inca Trail, which was laid down with an unprecedented level of care and skill such that its present day condition rivals that of most roads. All in all this was an experience that changed my perspective on how the people of this corner of the world live and celebrate life now and historically.
