If you have ever read about the Inca's and not been here you have only half the awe inspiring story. Once you add the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu the pictures come alive. Never will you see the pictures or read the stories the same again without imaging yourself in them.

The hard uphill sections give you a deep appreciation of the time and effort concentrated in the location and building of Machu Picchu. I did not expect the trail to be as awe inspiring as MP but I did and it added so much more to the experience.

Hopefully your guide will be as knowledgeable, answer your questions as well and be as encouraging as Miguel was, his constant willingness to answer questions, enthusiasm about his culture and willingness again to share his knowledge at all times of day really added so much value to the trek that made you appreciate your already magnificent scenery.

And DO NOT forget the Chaskis! They are among the most determined, athletic and friendly people to ever walk the earth. I would not like to take a single step in their shoes or sandals. They say there are no heroes on the mountain but they are heroes, every single one.

A must do at any age, if you have ever so much as glanced at Machu Picchu then cement it in yo ur memory with this trek!
